Battle of the Ardennes

End of a French cavalry sweep through the Ardennes that finds no German troops. The French then begin a major advance north-east through the Ardennes, incolved the Third and Fourth armies.

Siege of Liege

Fort Loncin, the HQ of General Leman, Belgian commander of Liege, is reduced by German 420mm howizter fire. Leman is found knocked out in the ruins of the fort.

Western Front

Max von Hausen's Third Army is repulsed in its first attempt to take Dinant on the Meuse

War at Sea

HMS Black Prince captures the Hamburg-Amerika line lines, the Südmark and the Istria. Südmark had been considered for use as a commerce raider.
