On the night of 22-23 October the British II Corps retreats to a new more defensible line. At the same time troops from the Indian Corps begin to reinforce II Corps.
The Germans launch an attack along a large stretch of the British line, hitting the 1st, 2nd and 7th Divisions. The Germans are repulsed apart from in the centre of the 1st Division where by 6pm the 1st Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders are forced to retreat a quarter of a mile from the Kortekeer Cabaret.
The Ferozepore Brigade from the Lahore Division,1/ Connaught Rangers and 57th Wilde's Rifles reinforce the Cavalry Corps.
