Third Battle of Antwerp

With the two modern outer lines of defences gone, King Albert orders the bulk of the Belgian army to evacuate Antwerp. They run into a British relief force under General Rawlinson and are able to escape intact to take up a new position on the Yser River.

Race to the Sea: First Battle of Artois

The crisis caused by the German attack north of Arras is now over. Falkenhayn turns his attention further north, and sends his armies into Flanders, triggering the First Battle of Ypres and teh Battle of the Yser.
