First battle of Warsaw

The Russians begin to pursue the retreating Germans after the failure of their first attack on Warsaw (battle of the Vistula). The German retreat began on the previous day and the Russians are neve able to catch them.

Western Front

Captain Harry Ranken, RAMC, suffered a serious leg injury while treating the wounded. He refuses to leave his post until the following day and dies of his wounds on 25 September. He is awarded a posthumous VC for his actions.

War in the Air

The only R.A.F. H.R.E.2 is damaged and grounded into 1915.
