First Battle of the Aisne

Official end of the First Battle of the Aisne. By this date the main focus of the fighting has moved north to the 'Race to the Sea' and the first battle of Ypres.

Race to the Sea: Battle of Albert, 1914

Crown Prince Rupprecht is ordered to abandon his attempts to capture Albert and instead move north to attack Arras (First Battle of Artois).

Race to the Sea: First Battle of Artois

Falkenhayn orders Crown Prince Rupprecht to atack Arras. His army will clash with a detachment of two infantry and one cavalry corps from the French Second Army under General Maud'huy

Battle of the Vistula

The Germans begin an invasion of south-western Poland heading towards Warsaw. They believe that they are advancing into a gap in the Russian lines, but the attack comes just as the Russians begin to move troops north from the Carpathian Front ready to attack German Silesia.
