Ludendorff Offensive: Battle of the Lys

The Germans achieve their last major success of the battle when they capture Mount Kemmel.

Second battle of Villers-Bretonneux

On the previous day the Germans capture Villers-Bretonneux, but a night counter-attack forces them back and leaves the troops in the village isolated. By the end of 25 April the village has been recaptured by the Allies.

War at Sea

The Wickes class destroyer USS Boggs (DD-136) and USS Kilty (DD-137) are launched at the Mare Island Naval Yard. The Boggs spent most of the interwar years on experimental duties, before serving as a minesweeper in the Pacific from 1940 to 1944. The Kilty served as a fast transport in the Pacific in 1943-45, serving in the Solomons, along New Guinea and in the Philippines
