Germsn renew their offensive after a brief pause, but by now the Allies are better prepared and the Germans make little progress
Second major attack on Villers-Bretonneux comes close to success. The Germans push the British and Australian troops back to within 440 yards of the town, but the situation is saved by a counterattack launched by the 36th Australian Battalion.
