Siege of Tsingtao

Japanese troops begin an assault on Tsingtao. The Germans surrender on the following morning.

War at Sea

HMS Minotaur is detached from the forces escorting the first ANZAC troop convoy west, after the threat from Von Spee's squadron is reduced when he appears off the west coast of South America. The convoy is now protected by HMAS Sydney, HMAS Melbourne and a powerful Japanese cruiser.

The German S 13 class destroyer S 13 is destroyed by an internal explosion.
