Second day of the pursuit to Mons, the final named British battle of the war on the Western Front

War at Sea

The seaplane carrier HMS Campania is sunk during a gale in the Firth of Forth aftering being hit by a British warship (either Revenge, Glorious or Royal Oak).

The destroyers USS Sterett (DD-27) and Balch (DD-50) rescue 29 survivors from the merchant ship Dipton.
