Battle of Nebi Samwil

Allenby ends the first attempt to capture Jerusalem. The Turks have held the city, although the front line has moved ten miles, and the nearest British troops are now at Nebi Samwil, five miles to the north west of Jerusalem.

Over the next two weeks the Turks waste many troops in a series of counterattacks, and when the British attack again the city falls easily (7-9 December).
