Battle of Nebi Samwil

Second day of the battle. The original British plan, for a cavalry attack, failed on the first day of the battle. Allenby produced a new plan for an infantry attack which would swing around the north of Jerusalem and cut the road to Nablus. The attack began on 19 November, but so did the winter rains and a combination of poor weather and determined Turkish resistance meant that the new plan also failed (although some progress was made by the time the attack was called off on 24 November).
