Affair of Huj

During the Turkish retreat after the third battle of Gaza the British 60th Division was held up by a well located Turkish rearguard. General Shea, commander of the division, decided to try a cavalry attack. One and a half squadrons from the Worcestershire Yeomanry and one and a half squadrons of the Warwickshire Yeomanry defeated the Turkish infantry and then captured their guns, allowing the division to continue its advance. The cavalry lost 26 dead and 40 injured from a total of 158 men.
