Having captured Beershaba at the eastern end of the Turkish lines, the British launch an attack on Gaza at the western end of the line on the night of 1-2 November. The Turkish line is pushed back and reinforcements move into Gaza
Erich von Falkenhayn arrives in Jerusalem to take command of the Palestine Front but he arrives too late to have any real impact on the fighting.
