Battle of the Somme: Battle of Bazentine Ridge

XIII and XV Corps from General Rawlinson's Fourth Army makes a dawn attack on the German lines on Bazentine Ridge at the start of the second phase of the battle of the Somme. Most of the German front line is captured, but a chance to capture High Wood and break the next German line is missed. When the cavalry finally arrives late in the evening the Germans have recovered and are able to hold the northern part of the wood.
