Canopus class battleshipGoliath arrives at Mafia Island, off the Rufiji Delta, where she watches the trapped German cruiser Konigsberg.
Five Allied battleships enter the straits. The French ships Charlemagne, Suffren and Gaulois attack on the Gallipoli side of the straits, while HMS Agamemnon and HMS Lord Nelson attack Rumeli Mecidiye and Anadolu Hamidiye.
Minesweepers supported by HMS Amethyst fail to make any progress after being picked up by a searchlight.
