Battle of Cambrai-St. Quentin

Southern part of the battle begins with an American attack. The failure of a preliminary attack on the previous day has left American troops isolated close to German strong points, so the Allied artillery is unable to fire. The American attack becomes bogged down and the Australians have to enter the battle sooner than planned.

Further south IX Corps attacks the St. Quentin Canal and troops from the 46th (North Midland) Division capture the bridge at Riquaval intact. Two divisions are able to cross the line and IX Corps captures four miles of the main Hindenburg Line.

Balkan Front

Armistice with Bulgarian comes into effect, after they suffer defeat in the battle of the Varder of 1918.
