First battle of Villers-Bretonneux

Start of a German attack towards Amiens. Villers-Bretonneux is the first target but the village holds out on 30 March.

War at Sea

Wickes class destroyer USS Stringham (DD-83) is launched at the Fore River Shipbuilding Company of Quincy, Massachussets. She saw limited service towards the end of the First World War, before serving throughout most of the Pacific Campaign of the Second World War as a fast transport.

Wickes class destroyer USS Lamberton (DD-119) is launched at Newport News Shipbuilding. She saw brief service in the last weeks of the First World War, was used as an auxiliary in the interwar period, and then as a fast minesweeper for most of the Second World War
