German troops reach Chateau Thierry, placing them only thirty seven miles from Paris.

War in the Air/ War at Sea

Airco D.H.6 patrol aircraft make an unsuccessful attack on the U-boat U.C.49. This is the only major attack on a U-boat to be carried out by the D.H.6.
