War at Sea
The decision is made to modify the aircraft carrier Furious for a second time. The first conversion saw the half-completed battlecruiser completed with a flying off deck forwards. The second conversion, which begins in December 1917, includes a 284ft long landing deck at the back of the ship. This is also a failure and after early trials landing is forbidden.
