Original date for the start of the main attack on the Ancre. Poor weather forced this attack to be postponed and a new plan is put in place, with a preliminary attack on 21 October and the main attack on 25 October. The preliminary attack was a success, but the main attack was cancelled.
Fourth and last day of the Eighth Battle of the Isonzo, second of three short Italian offensives on Isonzo front in the autumn of 1916.
The Italian offensive resumes. They push the Austrians to the east of the River Vallano, but at the end of the day the offensive is called off.
