End of Cardorna's 'First Offensive Leap' - the first Italian offensive of the war. They reach the Isonzo in some places but fail to capture Gorizia.

Eastern Front

General Otto von Below is given command of the new German Niemen Army, which is given the task of advancing east from East Prussia as a diversion from the main Austro-German offensive at Gorlice-Tarnow.

War at Sea

A British battleship squadron (Queen, Prince of Wales, Implacable and London ) arrives at Taranto to operate alongside the Italian fleet, one of the conditions for the Italian entry into the war.
