Eastern Front
In order to save their Austrian allies from defeat in the Carpathians the Germans move an entire army under General von Mackensen to the Austrian front. On 2 May the Austrians and Germans launch a massive offensive north into the Polish salient, and by the end of the first day the Russians have lost their first and second lines. The battle continues until 10 May and the advance continues across the summer. By the time it ends the Russians have been forced out of Russian Poland.
Dardanelles
HMS Albion is hit by a Turkish shell for the second time and is forced to return to Mudros for repairs for the second time within a week.
