The Caldwell class destroyer USS Craven (DD-70) is commissioned. She enters service too late for the First World War, but enters Royal Navy service as HMS Lewes in 1940, serving in British Home Waters, from South Africa and in the Far East
The Wickes class destroyer USS Robinson (DD-88) is commissioned at the Mare Island Navy Yard. She is commissioned too late to see service during the First World War, but serves in the Royal Navy as HMS Newmarket during the Second World War
