Second battle of the Masurian Lakes (or Winter Battle in Masuria)

The German Eighth Army, on the right of their attack, gets close to their original target, the town of Lyck. The town holds out for another four days.

German Tenth Army, on the left of the attack, has advanced 25 miles since 8 February.

War in the Air

The only R.A.F. H.R.E.2 is written off after a very heavy landing on a fine clear day when the pilot, Flt. Sub-Lt Welsh, was unable to judge how high above the sea he was.
