Part four of a series of US Navy illustrations of the evolution of the destroyer covers 1953-1962 and shows the Mitscher class destroyer leader USS John S McCain (DL-3), the Farragut class guided missile destroyer USS King (DLG-10) and the nuclear powered guided missile cruiser USS Bainbridge (DLG(N)-25), originally designated as a nuclear-powered guided missile destroyer leader.
