4.5in gun Mark 2, El Alamein, 1942
Here we see a 4.5in Gun Mark II firing, somewhere in the desert to the south of El Alamein during 1942. This was a fairly new weapon at the time, having only entered production in 1941, and it gave the Eighth Army some heavier firepower than the 25 pounder field gun.
