Battle of the Somme: Battle of Morval

The battle of Morval was an attempt to capture those objectives of the earlier battle of Flers-Courcelette that had remained in German hands.

On the first day of the battle XIV Corps attacked east and captured Morval and Lesboeufts. XV Corps attacked north and made some progress towards Gueudecourt but failed to capture the village.
