Battle of the Somme: Battle of Ginchy

The battle of Ginchy was a preliminary assault launched in order to prepare for the second major offensive during the campaign, the battle of Flers-Courcelette. The British attack at Ginchy succeeded in taking part of the German lines and the foothold was expanded in later fighting.
