Royal Aircraft Factory SE.5a

One of the two main fighters used by the RFC and RNAS along with the Sopwith Camel. The Royal Aircraft Factory had gained a reputation for poor aircraft that was redeemed by the SE.5a. Not as maneuverable at the Camel, the SE.5a was a better gun platform, and allowed less able pilots to perform well, and was used by most of the British fighter aces. Like the Camel, the SE.5a went out of use very quickly at the end of the war, although remained in use by some Commonwealth airforces.
