Morane-Saulnier M.S.408

The Morane-Saulnier M.S.408 was a single-seat version of the M.S.430 training aircraft that was evaluated by the Armee de l'Air, but that wasn't accepted for service. The M.S.430 was a two-seat low-wing monoplane based on the M.S.405 single-seat fighter. It had an extended fuselage which created the space for a second crewman, and used a radial engine in place of the inline engine of the fighter. A single prototype was flow on 3 March 1937, and work on the two-seat version continued into 1939. The design was also evaluated in a single-seat configuration, and this version was given the designation M.S.408. Once again it wasn't accepted for service.
