The Macchi M.C.207 was a more heavily armed version of the M.C.206. Like the M.C.206 it was based on the M.C.205N Orione, but with a wider wing span. The main change proposed for the M.C.207 was an increase in armament. The two M.C.205N prototypes had each been differently armed. Both carried a 20mm cannon firing through the propeller hub. The N-1 also carried four 12.7mm machine guns, while the N-2 replaced the machine guns with two 20mm cannon in the wings. The M.C.207 went one step further and replaced all of the previous guns with four 20mm cannon mounted in the wings. Work began on the prototype, but it was never completed.
