Henschel Hs 297

The Henschel 297 was the original designation given to a Henschel proposal for an air-to-ground missile made in 1941. At that time the German Air Ministry didn't see the need for such weapons, but by 1943 it changed its mind. Work on the project was resumed, but this time with the designation Hs 117 'Schmetterling' (Butterfly).
