26 August 1918
By 26 August the Germans have been pushed back to a line running along the Somme south from Peronne, then across open country to Noyon on the Oise.
The right wing of the British First Army joins the Third and Fourth Army offensive, extending the front from 33 miles to 40 miles. Ludendorrf now plans to abandon all of the Lys salient and the formation of a new front line on the Somme.
