Battle of Amiens: Second Battle of Bapaume

Second day of the second battle of Bapaume. On the previous day General Byng's Third Army attacked on a narrow front. On 22 August General Marwitz responded with an counterattack, but this was quickly beaten off.

War at Sea

The Wickes class destroyer USS Lamberton (DD-119) is commissioned. She sees brief service in the last weeks of the First World War, is used as an auxiliary in the interwar period, and then as a fast minesweeper for most of the Second World War.
