Second battle of Ypres

A second major gas attack hits the Canadians north of Ypres, but chlorine gas is water soluable and so a make-shift gas mask can be made using water-soaked cloths. The Canadians fight off the German attack.

War at Sea

German G 37 class destroyer G 41 is launched.

German S 49 class destroyer S 50 is launched.
