The Battle of the Nations (Osprey Military Campaign)

A 96 page Osprey from the Campaign Series so as usual packed full of illustrations, maps, colour plates the famous osprey 3 D maps. Includes a huge amount of detail including orders of battle for one of the biggest battles in history, which saw over half a million men on the battle field from five armies and details the largest cavalry battle in history Liebertwolkwitz which was part of the campaign. Written by the famous expert on Napoleon and former head of the Department of War Studies at Sandhurst, David Chandler.

It is an engaging study of war on a grand scale and the army lists are particularly detailed and huge as you would expect. The Wargaming section is particularly interesting as although out of date now it includes some interesting methods of wargaming the campaign some far from traditional.
