The Nakajima A3N was a two-seat training aircraft based on the Nakajima A2N Navy Type 90 Carrier Fighter. The A2N was an unequal span single-bay biplane that was produced between 1930 and 1935. A total of 106 were built in three different versions. The A3N was a two-seat version of the same aircraft, and most of the 66 that were built were produced by converting existing A2Ns, suggesting that around half of the single-seat fighters were converted into trainers.
