Morane-Saulnier M.S.477 Vanneau

The Morane-Saulnier M.S.477 Vanneau was an experimental variant of the M.S.475 Vanneau V that was given a Renault engine. The M.S.475 was the third production version of the Vanneau, and was powered by an 850hp Hispano-Suiza 12Y-45 Y-12 engine. One of these aircraft was re-engined with a 580hp Renault 12S-02 engine. This was a 12-cylinder inverted-V inline engine, originally designed in Germany as the Argus As 411 but largely produced in France by Renault. Production of the engine continued after the war as the Renault 12S and later the SNECMA 12S. The sole M.S.477 flew in November 1950 but no production followed.
