The Loening XO-10 was the designation given to the XOA-1A prototype when it was delivered to the US Army. The XOA-1A was a prototype for a version of the Loening OA-1 amphibian that was powered by a Wright V-1460-1 engine in place of the Liberty engine used on the normal aircraft. The aircraft also had a modified main float, with a single main wheel that retracted into the float. The OA-1 (and the Navy's OL) had two main wheels, mounted alongside the float and that folded up out of the way in flight. The single XO-10 was delivered to the Army but the type didn’t enter production.
