Keystone LB-11

The Keystone LB-11 was the designation given to the second-to-last LB-6 while it was being used as an engine test-bed. At first the LB-11 was used to test the standard Wright R-1750-3 Cyclone, a very similar engine to the R-1750-1 used in the LB-6. It was then used to test geared Wright G1R-1750 radial engines, with a gear ratio of 2:1 and was given the designation LB-11A.

All three engines provided the same 525hp, and all three versions of the aircraft (LB-6, LB-11 and LB-11A) had very similar performance figures. At the end of the engine tests the LB-11A was turned back into a standard LB-6 by installing the original R-1750-1 engines, and returned to operational service.
