The Cruiser Tank A29 was a Rolls Royce design for a 45 ton cruiser tank that would have carried the excellent 17pdr gun. It was abandoned at the paper stage in favour of the A30 Challenger, which was almost ten tons lighter and which was originally expected to quite similar to the Cromwell.
