The Airco D.H.8 was a design for a pusher aircraft that would have been armed with the 1 ½ pounder Coventry Ordnance Works gun (the C.O.W. Gun). The project suffered from a lack of suitable engines with the power to propel the heavy gun at useful speeds. The gun itself was also problematic, although de Havilland did have access to complete gun and its mounting for most of 1917. The design was never completed.
