Treaty of Altranstadt, 24 September 1706

Treaty between Augustus II of Poland and Saxony and Charles XII of Sweden during the Great Northern War. Charles had driven Augustus out of Poland, and eventually, by occupying Saxony, forced him out of the war completely, at least until Charles was himself defeated in Russia. By the treaty of Altranstadt, Augustus abdicated the Polish throne and recognised Charles's candidate for the Polish throne.
