Battle of Homildon Hill, 14 September 1402
Battle in which an English force led by Henry Percy, 'Hotspur', caught a Scottish raiding force led by the 4th earl of Douglas. 'Hotspur' defeated the Scots, and captured Douglas.

Paints a picture of a very different man to Shakespeare’s Hotspur, but almost certainly a much more accurate picture of this experienced border aristocrat
