Battle of Alnwick, 13 November 1093

Battle at which a Scottish invasion force led by Malcolm III Canmore, king of Scotland, was defeated by the English. The invasion was triggered by the fortification of Carlisle by William II. Both Malcolm and his son Edward were killed in the battle.
