The 89th Troop Carrier Group (USAAF) was a home-based training unit that operated from 1942 to 1944.
The group was activated on 1 February 1942 as part of Air Transport Command (this later became I Troop Carrier Command). The group operated a mix of DC-3s and C-47s, and was used for transition training for pilots with no experience of flying these larger aircraft.
In March 1944 the group began to serve as a replacement training unit, but it was disbanded on 14 April 1944 during a major reform of the US based training system.
