The 470th Bombardment Group was a home based training group that was active from May 1943 to March 1944.
The group was activated on 1 May 1943 and was equipped with the B-24. It was assigned to the Second Air Force, where it served as an operational training unit, preparing groups to move overseas. In January 1944 it was moved to the Fourth Air Force, where it served as a replacement training unit, training individual crews for the move overseas. The group was disbanded on 31 March 1944.
