No.7 General Reconnaissance Squadron, RNZAF, was a short-lived squadron that flew patrols from the northern tip of New Zealand during 1942 and early 1943.
The squadron was forced in February 1942, during the period of rapid Japanese conquests. On 20 February the squadron had twelve Vickers Vincents in the front line and six in reserve.
The squadron was based at Waipapakauri, towards the far northern tip of New Zealand. Its main role was to fly anti-submarine patrols in the waters to the north of New Zealand, but as the chances of a Japanese invasion receeded the squadron's comparatively short range aircraft became less useful, and the squadron was disbanded in May 1943.
