West Yorkshire Regiment along M3 Lee tanks, Imphal-Kohima Road
Here we see troops from the West Yorkshire Regiment advancing along the Imphal-Kohima road alongside a column of M3 Lee tanks. From the rear the M3 was quite similar to the original M4 Shermans, with the same engine access hatches, but the turret is overset to the left and the rear of the fuselage rises vertically to make space for the main gun inside the fighting compartment. The similar M3 Grant had a British turret with a clear overhand at the rear, missing here.
