Lt D.W. Gay's War Effort - Nachrichten aus der Heimat 29 (1)
This page from Lt D.W. Gay's 'War Effort' shows the front page of 'Nachrichten aus der Heimat' volume 29 (News from Home), an Allied propaganda sheet dropped over the German lines in Italy. The general tone of the paper is clear in the list of topics at the start - Bunker and Barricade in Berlin - Diseases introduced from the east- Diplomatic Corps has left the Capital - 1,500 Volksturm desert in Konigsberg - Theatres and train stations turned into hospitals - Upper Silesian industry almost intact - Roland Freisler victim of an attack - 71,000 people in the Reich wanted.

Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material. These pages come from Gay's own private notebook which began with similar infomation to his flight log, but became more detailed, and also included a number of interesting items that had been pasted in.
